Inspired Lives New York reading

June 1st, Bluestockings books

On June 1st, we hosted a book reading for Inspired Lives: The Best of Real Life Yoga from Ascent Magazine in the lower east side of Manhattan at Bluestockings Books, where we had readings by two Inspired Lives authors, Michael McColly and Sparrow. The event was a co-launch with Soft Skull Press in Brooklyn, who publishes both McColly’s new book The After-Death Room: Journey into Spiritual Activism and Sparrow’s America: A Prophecy.

Ever a captivating reader, Michael enchanted the audience with “Sarodharan,” his article featured in Inspired Lives about working in India with HIV positive young men. Punctuated by a thrilling downpour, Sparrow read from “My Visit to California” along with new poems and quotes.

After the readings the small crowd chatted around the Bluestockings café while Myk Freedman and friends played original tunes in the background.
